Witnessed is a personal safety app for Android. One tap starts recording, and the video leaves your phone while you are still filming. If you cannot cancel the countdown, your trusted contacts get the footage and your last known location.

A recording sitting on your phone is only as safe as your phone. Phones get grabbed, smashed, and handed over, and people get told to unlock them and delete what is on them.
Witnessed uploads your video continuously while you are still filming. If your phone is taken during a stop, or broken, or it just dies in your pocket, what you already recorded is no longer on it. Your contacts already have it, and nobody has to give it back to you.

No. Witnessed alerts the people you chose. It is not an emergency service and does not replace your local emergency number.

Witnessed is not an emergency service. It does not contact the police, an ambulance, or any public emergency service, and it is not a substitute for your local emergency number such as 911, 112 or 999. It needs a working device, a network connection, and contacts who choose to respond, so delivery cannot be guaranteed. In a real emergency, call official emergency services.
